Policy Workshop by the European Health Observatory

We regret to inform you that the workshop has been cancelled. Unfortunately, one of the workshop hosts had to return home due to a personal emergency.

Teaming Up: How Health Economics and Health Policy Analysis can Benefit from Each Other

The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate dialogue between health economists and health policy analysts, aligning with this year's conference theme of Opening up perspectives on health economics. In pursuit of this goal, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies will introduce its health policy portfolio to explore opportunities for integrating health economic perspectives, analysis, and collaborative efforts.

We will delve into the discussion of current issues from the standpoint of the Observatory's mission to promote evidence-informed policy making. The following topics will take centre stage in our discussions:

  • Embedding governance in a health system performance framework
  • Learnings from COVID-19 health systems responses
  • Recentralisation and decentralisation in health systems
  • The European Union health policy
  • Governing the health workforce
  • Intersectoral governance for Health in All Policies and Health for All Policies
  • Supporting evidence informed policy making through knowledge brokering to put health policy analysis into practice

The three hours workshop will be divided in four parts:

1. Introduction

2. Break-out sessions zooming in on the topical issues

3. Analysis and knowledge brokering: from research to impact

4. Final discussion and wrap up

The workshop organisers:

  • Matthias Wismar, European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies
  • Scott L. Greer, Michigan University and European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies

Participation is free and you do not have to be registered for the main conference, however, be aware that the number of participants is limited to 60. Please register here for the workshop.
